August 10, 2011 I Don’t Like Nuts in my Mouth

As you might have seen in my I Scream! post, Hard Drive picked me up last night for Date Twenty-Four and we headed to La Casa Gelato, the amazing sorbetto/gelato/yogurt joint on Venables that boasts 218 flavours onsite. If you haven’t been, you must. Pros: Fun/Random tunes, they let you have as many samples as you like (this may be false, I’ve never tested this theory) and they’ve got cool flavours like Hot Pepper Fudge (way too hot), Coconut Curry and Dragonfruit. Cons: They’re always packed and a little pricey (lucky for me, Hard Drive picked up the tab).

It didn’t surprise me that Hard Drive was allergic to nuts; it goes with the nerd territory, doesn’t it? In his words:

“I don’t like nuts in my mouth”.

I’ll let you imagine my rebuttal. Anyway, my all-time favourite flavour is chocolate peanut-butter. I was uber sad when I walked in to see that chocolaty goodness with delicious sticky peanut-butter swirls behind the counter. I may have drooled, just a little. In fact, I might be drooling right now. I looked at Hard Drive with sad eyes while I “eeny meeny miny moed” between the nuts and him. Then, WHAM, best moment of the night! Hard Drive pulls me in for a quick kiss in the middle of the store. Awesome. Totally unexpected. Quick, descreet, but bold. Awesome. Therefore, I could eat the nuts because I got my kiss for the night. Yeah right, I wasn’t ruining my chances for more later. I chose chocolate créme de menthe. He went with strawberry fudge.

We went outside and sat in the little Italian area they’ve got going on with flags (French colours though; I was confused) and twinkle lights and just enjoyed our gelato, flirted a little and talked about our own European travels. The night didn’t stop there and we headed back to his place for some more, er, conversation. My roommate was in bed by the time he took me home. Still smiling.
